The launch of “Promoting the culture of using solar energy and integrated ecosystems” closing conference activities at Al-Azhar University

The Conference was the closing to the project's activities of (Promoting the culture of Using Solar Energy and Integrated Ecosystems at Al-Azhar University), implemented by FPDP, and funded by the United Nations Development Program "UNDP", GEF and SGP - Egypt.
The Grand Imam Hall in the presidency building of Al-Azhar University in Nasr City hosted the activities of the project’s final conference, which was held under the patronage of the Grand Imam Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb “Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif” and Ms. Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj “H.E. Minister of Social Solidarity”, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Seddik “Vice President of Al-Azhar University for Postgraduate Studies and Head of the Community Service & Environmental Development Committee at the university”. And also, in the presence of Dr. Emad El-Din Adly "SGP - National Director", Prof. Ayman Abdul Mawgood "The Assistant of the Minister of Social Solidarity Affairs for Civil Work Institutions", and Dr. Samar Youssef Sa’afan “FDPD - Chairman of Board of Directors”.
A group of university professors, public figures and representatives of governmental and civil organizations concerned with environmental issues participated in the conference, where a documentary film and review of the project's activities were presented that covered a period of a year and a half inside Al-Azhar University.
On the sidelines of the conference, the official inauguration of two solar power plants established on top of the main and administrative building of the university with a total capacity of 104.4 kilowatts was held. Also, a cooperation protocol was signed between Al-Azhar University and the Forum for Dialogue and Partnership for Development “FDPD to implement a strategic plan that ensures the sustainability of the project’s achieved results. The project activities included:
Two solar power plants established with a total capacity of 104.4 kilowatts.
Creating platform plants islands and planting dense shade trees inside the university campus.
Replacing regular neon bulbs with energy-saving LED bulbs inside the administrative offices in the main building, and regulating the lighting working hours system inside the building’s corridors with timer panels
Supply and installation of waste disposal units inside the university campus, as well as inside the main and administrative building
Developing and raising the efficiency of students’ sidewalk-seats and lighting them with solar energy, in addition of providing a USB unit to charge mobile phones using clean energy.
Implementation of 16 workshops for university employees, security personnel, housekeepers, male and female students to raise awareness of the integrated ecosystem model inside the university.
Supplying and installing water saving units in toilets of the main and administrative buildings.

The existence of an older female announcer in The General Program as a member in the forum' board of trustees which will help to strengthen the efforts of the forum in the advocacy issue.
The chairman of the forum of dialogue and partnership for development and some of board members provided technical support to organizations and associations working to address the issue of child labor, particularly working girls through training the cadres of these associations on planning for the advocacy campaigns, its preparation, its implementation and strategic plans of these associations, so that they can develop the performance of tasks in addressing this issue.
The Forum is a founding member of the "Hana and Shifa" network which adopte a project entitled "Food contamination issue", which seeks to activate the dialogue and participation in the enlightenment for the elimination of food contamination.
The Forum is a founding member of the NGOs network which adopt a project entitled " environment street "which seeks to activate dialogue and participation in the preservation of the environment.
The Forum is member in many of the national committees, the most important one (National Committee for mine clearance, the participatory planning committee...).
The Forum held a series of seminars to discuss important law drafts that affect large segments of the citizens where they are hosting representatives of all parties - the government - members of the People's Assembly and Shura counsil - the media - NGOs - experts, and there are reports of each seminar with results available to decision makers and the media.
